Trip to Negros Occidental Day 2

Richie, don’t jump! Don’t!

As soon as we’re done with breakfast, we went to the lagoon which is in front of the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol building. It was my first time to see a body of water that large and that clean in a city. The ones I got used to seeing were relatively small and were mostly turned into extensions of the trash cans found near them.

This is the lagoon I am referring to. And behind the three eyesores, is the Negros Occidental Capitol.

The view wasn’t that nice without… ahem. Of course I had to have my picture taken. Smile Davey Smile. Perfect.

If you face the lagoon opposite the Capitol you’d see two golden sculptures on each side. On the right side is a man with an elephant (or a rhinoceros, help me recall.) On the left side is woman with the same kind of creature.

This is where we acted like seven- year olds. Good thing there were no other kids there. Yayyy!

Then we moved closer to the Capitol. And Richie, it’s too early for that. lol

Scroll down to the next picture please.

Welcome to Mambukal. I like how this picture of me was taken. Good thing my face isn't blurred here 'though I can hardly even tell if that thing with two feet is me or a bird or something.

We went to Mambukal Mountain Resort before noon. It was sizzling hot while on the road but the temperature changed when we got to this resort which has a brook surrounded by rocks and trees.

There weren’t any tables available for us anymore so we stayed and had our lunch on some of these rocks. I decided not to include photos of us eating. They’re scary.

Let me pause right here. I’ll post the continuation before this year ends, don’t worry.

Trip to Negros Occidental Day 1

I’ve been to a couple of places already here in the Philippines, as a product of this goal: To know my own country first before others. This and the fact that I could not afford to go outside the country, yet. Well, you don't need to travel far just to experience being in beautiful places and discovering different cultures.

So let me start by sharing to you the beauty of the most recent place I and the Pronies visited: Negros Occidental.

The travel from Cebu City, Cebu to San Carlos City, Negros Occidental was about 4 hours long. We did it through land since it was a cheaper choice compared to taking a plane.

I and my fellow Pronies at a Port in San Carlos City
From San Carlos to Bacolod City was another long ride. It was about 3 hours. I must say it is of utmost importance that we make sure our IPods, phones, and other similar gadgets, are fully charged, and that we bring something to read or browse on, in case our companions prefer to sleep  instead of chat with us during the travel.

We finally reached Bacolod City, took lunch and was supposed to visit our friend, Mary Jane's house. I said "was supposed to" because we didn't reach our destination at all, except Mary Jane. Aileen, Richard, May, and I got stuck, by choice, at the roadside where the van we rode on was parked. And the narcissistic nature of the Pronies began.

May and Aileen Posing as they were to ransack this store.
I still don't know what these three are trying to do.

Oh look at May and that pose. That's me at her back. Acting silly.

The Four Blind Mice: (Left to Right) Richard, May, Aileen, and Mary Jane

This is what I can say the hightlight of our first day in Negros Occidental.
Get ready for Day 2!

I'm Joining the 2nd Cebu Blog Camp! Yayyy!

The Cebu blog Camp  is an event organized annually by the Cebu Bloggers of the Blog and Soul Movement which is the educating leg of the Philippine Blog Awards Inc. which has been running for already four years. This is the largest gathering of bloggers in Cebu.

These are my reasons for joining:

I’ve just created this new blogsite and I want to do a lot of different things to make it better than the previous one I had. Joining the camp would give me useful ideas.

Many established bloggers are expected to participate in the event. They might share tips that will be helpful to other bloggers.

There may be some tools on my blog that I am not utilizing which are actually useful. I want to be able to get some information like that from other bloggers while on the camp.

This will be a chance for me to meet interesting people with beautiful minds who I can exchange ideas with.

My friend, who’s a blogger too, will kill me if I won’t show up on this event. J

Back to Blogspot

About six years ago, when I was still new to the internet world, I came across Blogspot, which offered “blogging.” I didn’t know what the term meant at that time. All I knew was that it felt good to see my own write- ups on the screen with designs on it. I remember how glad I was to finally write something that could be read by people other than my teachers and myself.

I kept on writing, primarily to express whatever I felt towards things and situations. There were also times when I used writing as a way for me to recreate events in my life by adding a little adventure to them or by twisting them in ways that would make them appear more interesting.

This is a picture of me taken during a trip to Bohol

I was in college then. Computer usage and access to the internet was free; however, when I graduated, I didn't have that much money to go to internet cafes, which was the only way for me to keep my cyberspace life alive. When I found a job, one that required my full attention in order for me to keep it (since I just got introduced to computers and my typing speed was about a word per minute,) my BlogSpot account sort of died. My writing, on the other hand, didn't, or at least not totally. I had Friendster then. But still my writings were reduced to short messages, comments and some bulletins that were only created to catch people’s attention, which I sometimes did when I didn't find anything better to do.

When I felt the urge to write seriously again, I created a new page: http://www.davythecontrary.bravejournal.com/. It’s still active. Although what I post mostly there are some random thoughts, and some Facebook statuses I’ve written which I wanted to save.

This blog site will not only be about my inner adventures but, mostly, outer ones which I share with friends. Lately, I realized how much I enjoy going to different places. It satisfies both my ridiculous sense of adventure and narcissism, since picture- taking is involved. And I love having my picture taken. Well, just to be fair I love taking pictures of other people too.

So here it is, my new page. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this alive.
